Carnival Catwalk Makes History with US Debut on Peacock

Caribbean creativity has taken center stage on the global fashion map as Carnival Catwalk, the groundbreaking fashion competition series, premiered on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform on August 1st. The show’s arrival marks a historic first, it is the first reality TV series created and produced in Trinidad and Tobago to be acquired by a major US streaming network, representing a significant leap forward for the region’s television, fashion, and cultural industries.

Produced by Executive Producers Jerome “Rome” Precilla, Gian Franco of Pavilion Entertainment, and Rodney Seemungal of SGP Studios, Carnival Catwalk is a dazzling blend of high-stakes fashion competition and the vibrant artistry of Caribbean Carnival. Over nine episodes, viewers follow 10 designers from across the globe as they tackle challenges that merge the spectacle of Carnival with the sophistication of high fashion. The winner walks away with US$100,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to showcase at Milan Fashion Week.

“This is huge for our local design industry, the Carnival industry, the TV and film industry, tourism, and our culture,” said Precilla. “The series was built with a cast and crew of over 180 creatives-98% local. We’ve proven that our talent, vision, and culture are world-class, and now the world is watching. This is our story, told by us.”

Hosted by Trinidad and Tobago entertainer Rome alongside Jamaica’s Kandi King, the series features a judging panel led by Miss Universe 1998 Wendy Fitzwilliam, with Project Runway Season 9 winner Anya Ayoung-Chee and celebrity guests from the worlds of fashion and entertainment bringing both expertise and star power. The competition delivers not just runway glamour but also intimate behind-the-scenes moments and the emotional journeys of the designers.

For Executive Producer Gian Franco, the show is a cultural statement. “Carnival Catwalk gives the world a front-row seat to the skill, passion, and pride behind our Carnival culture and how it translates into fashion. Our designers have shown they can stand alongside the best internationally. This is just the beginning.”

The series also serves as a powerful stage for Caribbean music, with over 150 soca tracks woven throughout its run, giving global audiences a taste of the region’s infectious soundscape. With Peacock’s reach of over 41 million subscribers, the platform offers unprecedented exposure for Caribbean designers, artists, and musicians.

Rodney Seemungal emphasized the opportunity for regional growth: “We urge everyone in the Caribbean and diaspora to stream Carnival Catwalk on Peacock. Supporting this project shows the power of our region and paves the way for more Caribbean productions to enter the global arena. We are grateful to our judges, crew, and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for their invaluable support.”

Now standing alongside global reality TV hits like Love Island USA and Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Carnival Catwalk has already made its mark, ranking #3 on Peacock Picks within days of its release.

Carnival Catwalk is streaming now on Peacock, giving the world a vibrant and unapologetic celebration of Caribbean creativity, culture, and couture.
