Internationally Acclaimed Singer Sophia Dias Chooses T&T as Backdrop for Second Album Visuals
Renowned singer, author, chef, entrepreneur, and domestic violence advocate Sophia Dias is set to film the visuals for her upcoming album in the picturesque Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Scheduled for late March, Sophia’s visit marks her first time in Trinidad and Tobago, where she will capture the essence of her album “Bullet Proof 2, Legacy” through seven captivating music videos. The album is slated for release on April 1st, 2024.
Partnering with Trinidadian filmmakers Marc Sardinha and Walt Lovelace, Sophia aims to infuse her visuals with the vibrant culture and diverse heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.
Coming from a Portuguese-Indian background in Goa, Sophia expressed anticipation for reconnecting with her ancestral roots in the twin-island nation.
“Trinidad and Tobago is perfect,” Sophia shares, highlighting the blend of European and Indian influences she seeks to incorporate into her project. “I wanted something unique, and Trinidad and Tobago gives me just that.”
Reflecting on her decision to film in Trinidad and Tobago, Sophia underscored her desire to explore new cultural landscapes and connect with people on a deeper level.
“As a businesswoman and entrepreneur, I have traveled the world and met different cultures and people. When I was writing the album, I was thinking of where I could shoot these seven videos. Trinidad and Tobago came as a suggestion, and it resonated with me instantly.”
Sophia’s upcoming album, “Bullet-Proof 2, Legacy,” follows the success of her debut album, which was recorded at Tuff Gong Studio and released in December 2022. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, Sophia’s music serves as a testament to her resilience and strength, particularly in overcoming domestic violence.
“Every song is personal,” Sophia noted, dedicating the album to her late pet, Mr. Santos, who she said played a pivotal role in her life. “He saved my life when I was looking at a loaded gun aimed at my head in my own home. That is my boy, my son, this is his legacy, Bullet-Proof 2,” she shares.
Sophia’s advocacy extends beyond her music, as she actively supports organizations working to combat domestic violence. Through initiatives like her fashion brand DIAS Worldwide, Sophia raises funds for charities and plans to collaborate with NGOs during her time in Trinidad and Tobago.
Beyond her musical endeavors, Sophia’s creative pursuits span literature and culinary arts. With a forthcoming cookbook slated for release in April 2024, Sophia continues to inspire audiences worldwide through her storytelling and culinary expertise.
As Sophia Dias embarks on her journey to Trinidad and Tobago, her visit promises to not only enrich her artistic endeavors but also shine a spotlight on the vibrant culture and spirit of the Caribbean nation.
