Jadel Positive & Focused For Carnival 2024, Gets “Messy” with Karlie Redd
The 2024 Carnival season is off to a great start for Jardine “Jadel” Le Gere and from all accounts, it’s about to get even better.
Speaking with YCG backstage at Soka In Moka: The Evolution on New Year’s Day, the sassy artiste said she’s proud of the strides she’s made in the industry so far and is super excited for what’s to come.
“I am positive, I am focussed and I am very excited because I have stuff that I never did before which is international collabs. Charly Black and also a surprise international collab coming. This is the first season that I’ve ever had so many music videos, trying to establish the face and get the name fully out there. I’m feeling blessed to know that people are getting the name Jadel, the songs and the face together. That is the purpose, just making sure I stamp my name here in Trinidad and I continue touring and represent Trinidad worldwide.”
Addicitive, Jadel’s 2024 collab with Charly Black is being described as a fusion of Soca and dancehall. The song which was co-written by the two artistes, was released to rave reviews on November 3.
Jadel said this collaboration is just one of the many fruits of her consistent labour. During YCG’s brief chat with the sassy singer, she hinted at another huge collaboration with an internationally recognised artiste, she remained tightlipped when pressed to share details but did note that it promises to be another banger.
Earlier today, Jadel delivered on that promise with the release of Messy, a song she’s featured on with reality TV star, Karlie Redd.
Jadel said while she is pleased with the progress she’s made, she knows that the work is far from over.
“It’s not time to relax yet, I know I have to be consistent in releasing music, good music and making sure the fans know who Jadel is. Just seeing people embrace your song, singing it word for word knowing that I write most of my songs, it’s a great feeling and it’s inspirational for sure.”
Asked to share at least one of the challenges she faces as woman navigating the entertainment industry, she said the fashion aspect of entertaining.
The ‘Fire Body’ singer said sometimes keeping it hot and fresh for the duration of the season could seem like an extreme sport.
“As a female artiste the fashion aspect is always a challenge. We don’t have it easy like the males- they could just jump out and wear anything. We can’t be repeating outfits any time soon. Your makeup, your nails, your hair have to be on point… you also have to like be sure to infuse your personal style so it doesn’t look or feel like a costume. You want to look good but you want to feel like you too, if you know what I mean. It’s a challenge but it comes with the territory and this is what we signed up for so we’re ready for it,” she said.
Jadel is set to perform at several other events for the duration of the 2024 Carnival season, among them Drinking Partner, Experience and Army Fete.
