More Than Music: Tobago Rhythm & Soul Festival Champions Island Development

The sweet sounds of the Caribbean will take center stage this Easter as the Tobago Rhythm and Soul Festival returns with a dynamic lineup of international and regional stars. Infused with both global appeal and the unmatched charm of Tobago, the festival promises an unforgettable cultural and musical experience.

With the recent unveiling of a new airport and plans for further island development, the 2025 edition of the festival is more than just a celebration—it’s a statement. The Tobago Festivals Commission is using this opportunity to elevate the island’s profile as a premier destination for music, entertainment, and leisure in the Caribbean. “Our goal remains enshrined in placing Tobago at the forefront when it comes to destination tourism,” said Kern Cowan, CEO of the Tobago Festivals Commission. “Each year, we build momentum by showing the world what Tobago has to offer.”

This year’s festival opens with Melodies from Heaven—a spiritually uplifting experience headlined by renowned Nigerian gospel artiste Sinach, who brings over three decades of ministry and music to the stage. “We felt it was absolutely necessary to incorporate spirituality in this festival,” Cowan shared. “Sinach’s global presence is a powerful reflection of brand Tobago.”

Musical diversity is a cornerstone of the festival, with a lineup that spans genres and generations. The legendary Stephen Marley, Gramps Morgan, Singing Melody, and Wayne Wonder will join R&B greats Brian McKnight and Jon Secada, alongside regional talents such as Kes The Band, Mical Teja, and Coutain. The inclusion of the Marley family in particular has drawn international attention, reinforcing the island’s positioning as a cultural and entertainment hub. “The Marley name is one of the most globally respected in Caribbean music, and having them here further solidifies the importance of this festival,” said Cowan.

Kes The Band, fresh off sold-out shows at New York’s SummerStage, will bring their high-energy, cross-generational performance to the Tobago stage. “For those who missed out on tickets in New York, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of Kes in Tobago,” a member of the marketing team added.

With the island expecting a surge in visitors, the Tobago Festivals Commission has been working closely with travel and hospitality stakeholders to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for all. “We are in constant communication with those in positions to make this festival truly enjoyable,” Cowan explained. “The success of this event benefits everyone, and our shared goal is to amplify brand Tobago.”

As the Easter weekend approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be a transformative, soul-stirring celebration. “Music is life,” Cowan concluded. “We aim to increase the love for life and deliver an experience that truly touches the soul.”
