Nearly Three Decades Strong, St. Kitts Music Festival Gets Set To Open Another Unforgettable Chapter
For nearly three decades, the St. Kitts Music Festival has transformed the Federation into the cultural heartbeat of the Caribbean each summer, drawing internationally acclaimed performers, regional stars and thousands of music lovers to its shores. What began as a bold tourism initiative has evolved into one of the region’s most anticipated music festivals, celebrated not only for its diverse lineups but also for the way it showcases the warmth, culture and hospitality of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The opening night of the 2026 St. Kitts Music Festival brings together internationally acclaimed headliners, regional powerhouses and beloved local acts, underscoring why the festival continues to rank among the Caribbean’s premier music events. Ahead of the evening’s performances, the artists joined festival officials for the Opening Night Press Conference, offering an early glimpse into the excitement surrounding the weekend.
Headlining the evening is international soca superstar Machel Montano, returning to the St. Kitts Music Festival stage after an absence of approximately fifteen years. Joining him are Grenadian hitmaker V’ghn, Trinidad and Tobago’s Voice, Dominica’s Shelly and Signal Band, Barbados’ legendary Edwin Yearwood & Krosfyah, alongside Saint Kitts’ own Brandon, Rucas H.E. and the iconic Nu Vybes Band International.
Opening Night will also feature a special musical tribute celebrating the life and legacy of the late Elston “King Ellie Matt” Nero, one of the Federation’s most influential musical pioneers, making for a programme that honours both the future and the rich musical heritage of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The anticipation was palpable as performers reflected on what it means to be part of one of the Caribbean’s premier music festivals and shared their excitement ahead of taking the stage later that evening.
Machel extended hearty congratulations to the organisers of the festival, describing it as a true gem of the Caribbean.
“I have been here a couple times to this music festival but this time I’m very excited because I haven’t been here I think in about fifteen years… I am looking forward to the energy of tonight. I can’t wait to dive into some of my hits that I haven’t performed here in a very long time. I am very excited. It’s an honour to be on such a stellar cast. Everyone here seems to be highly accomplished and great at what they do, so I think we are going to have an exciting time.”
The sentiment was echoed by Krosfyah frontman Edwin Yearwood, who revealed that he was among the artistes who performed at the inaugural staging of the St. Kitts Music Festival nearly three decades ago.
“I remember so many people, so many doubters, people who we call haters who spoke all this negativity and just didn’t think that this would last. Cheese on bread! Just look at this now…”
While the artists reflected on the performances still to come, government officials highlighted the festival’s wider significance, pointing to its role as one of the country’s most important tourism and cultural assets.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Tivanna Wharton reflected on the remarkable evolution of the St. Kitts Music Festival, hailing its continued success as a testament to the vision, dedication and collaboration of the many individuals who have helped shape it over the years. Beyond delivering world-class entertainment, she noted, the festival continues to play a vital role in driving visitor arrivals, stimulating economic activity and strengthening Saint Kitts and Nevis’ reputation as a leading destination for culture and entertainment.
Festival organisers are encouraging patrons to arrive early, as the show is scheduled to begin promptly at 7 p.m. Opening Night will kick off with performances from homegrown talents Brandon of ASAP Band and Rucas H.E., both of whom will be backed by The Revealers Band.
