Romain Virgo On A Mission To Spread Positive Vibes

You may not know it to look at him now, but Jamaican songbird Romain Virgo once struggled to be accepted for what he brings to the musical table.

He made the astonishing admission during a brief chat with YCG just following his performance at the Saint Kitts Musical Festival last month.

“I don’t look at myself as being famous and maybe that\’s a good way to start. I see myself as on a mission. God gave me this talent for a purpose and I believe my purpose is to sing positive vibes and uplift people and make people feel good and that is what I’m doing. I’m trying to take feeling like I\’m on a high out of the picture except when I’m on stage performing and I think that is how I really and truly balance.”

Your Caribbean Guide caught up with Romain Virgo backstage at the St Kitts Music Festival in 2023.

“Everybody that comes out and supports, I know that without them I wouldn’t be here so that is how I think I balance everything. Challenges that I faced.. the biggest challenge I faced was getting people to really and truly like me and like my music I mean my original music after I won the competition in Jamaica. So that was one of the toughest challenges. To date, I feel like people show love but it can be stronger. You know, just for the presence for the kind of music that I do more so you know I look forward to more of that.”

The “Been There Before” singer is set to release his album The Gentleman, on March 1 and has also already announced tour dates for Jamaica.

If you miss the soulful crooner’s multi-city tour in Jamaica, you can catch up with him in Saint Lucia. Earlier this year, he was named as one of the artistes that’ll headline this years staging of the highly anticipated event.
