They’ve Done It Again! Vibes With Voicey ‘25 A Resounding Success
Aaron “Voice” St. Louis’ has done it again! The 2025 staging of Vibes with Voicey which has quickly cemented itself as a staple on the Trinidad Carnival calendar, is being hailed as a resounding success. The annual event, known for delivering high-energy performances and an immersive soca experience, returned in 2025 under the theme The Soca Bowl.
As the clock approached 11:46 on Carnival Thursday night, massive crowds gathered outside both the General and VIP sections, eagerly awaiting entry into what had become one of the most highly anticipated events of the Trinidad Carnival season. Never thought I’d say this, but it was worth the wait. When we finally made our way inside, Vibes with Voicey: The Soca Bowl was already in full swing, and the energy was palpable.
A dazzling drone show lit up the sky, setting the stage for what would be an electrifying night. This year’s staging embraced its theme in full, kicking off with a dynamic opening segment that paid homage to the tradition of a marching band.
The excitement was amplified as Voice’s bandmates took their places, signaling the start of what would be a masterfully curated musical journey.
The crowd erupted as Voice himself stormed the stage, kicking things off with Own Way and seamlessly flowing through a medley of his biggest hits.
One of the first guest of the night was none other than Farmer Nappy, whose presence further fueled the crowd’s enthusiasm. Then came Coutain, adding his own flair to the night’s star-studded lineup.
Taking a heartfelt moment between performances, Voice expressed gratitude to soca legends Machel Montano, Kes, Lyrikal, and the late Blaxx, crediting them for giving him opportunities early in his career when others wouldn’t. In that same spirit of mentorship, he introduced the winner of the Vibes with Voicey Live Soca Competition, giving her the same chance he was once granted.
The momentum continued to build as V’ghn joined Voice onstage. He quickly won over the crowd. Seizing the moment, he playfully declared, “This is my side!” in reference to those in general, eventually sparking a friendly competition between the General and VIP sections. In short order it became clear that VIP was bringing the most energy. It’s not often that those in VIP display plenty more vibes than General. Voice worked his magic, doubling down with a powerful exhibition of crowd control, that had the General section roaring back in response.
The night featured even more surprises, including a stellar appearance by Nadia Batson. Voice then switched gears, delivering a softer, almost unplugged set of his hits, accompanied by a group of African drummers—an artistic and deeply resonant moment in the show.
The energy surged once more, as the Tilden Hall Riddim took center stage.
Lyrikal, who some say, have one of the more popular songs on the riddim, then took the stage, seamlessly shifting the vibe. When he successfully cast a spell on the exuberant crowd, he introduced Saint Lucian songbird Teddyson John, whose presence added another layer of musical brilliance to the already explosive event.
From start to finish, Vibes with Voicey: The Soca Bowl was a masterclass in soca entertainment—blending tradition, innovation, and unleashing the very essence of carnival spirit all in one unforgettable experience.
One of the event highlights for me, was the time spent paying homage to musical greats like the late Shadow and Roy Cape. I think it important to note as well, the impressive production of value of the event-world class!
The production of Vibes with Voicey: The Soca Bowl was nothing short of epic, a testament to the meticulous planning and creativity that I’m sure went into making the event a world-class spectacle. From the mesmerizing drone show that lit up the night sky to the seamless stage transitions and stunning visual effects, every detail was carefully crafted to enhance the experience. The sound, lighting, and pyrotechnics worked in perfect harmony, amplifying the energy of each performance. The attention to detail was evident—not just in the high-caliber lineup but in the way the show flowed effortlessly, keeping the crowd engaged from start to finish. Can we also spare a moment to commend the band?! Because baby, they were on point for the entirety of the event!
All that said, it was clear that an immense amount of effort went into ensuring that Vibes with Voicey 2025 wasn’t just another concert, but an immersive and unforgettable soca experience.
With its unmatched vibes and star-studded performances, this event continues to raise the bar, solidifying its place as one of the must-attend events of the season.
I wait with bated breath to see how they plan to up the ante next year.
